Jysk - API Management Consultant
Like fixing things others can't quite explain? Read on.

API Management Consultant
A developer pings the Slack channel: "My API is timing out - can you see anything in the logs?" Another asks what authentication they should put on a service going to the public internet. A third needs help promoting their API from test to production without breaking anything. Meanwhile, the platform itself needs upgrading - without downtime - and there's a cloud migration on next year's roadmap.
That's the job. If your instinct reading that was "I'd actually enjoy that," we should talk.
We're hiring an API Management Consultant to sit in the Integration team and become a key hands-on owner of the API platform. You'll work closely with Kenneth, who runs the show today, and gradually take over some of the depth we currently bought from external consultants.
What you'll actually be doing
This is a hands-on, operations-leaning role - not a development role. Your week will be a mix of:
Supporting our developers across the organization who publish their APIs to our self-service platform - answering questions, debugging issues, advising on security choices
Digging into the unglamorous stuff - log analysis, socket timeouts, OS-level investigation, platform behavior under load
Owning the platform's health - performance, security, lifecycle governance, monitoring
Building and maintaining the tooling around API promotion, quality scanning, environment management (we have some Ansible scripts and small tools in place)
Upgrading the platform with high availability and no downtime
Helping shape what's next - including our move toward cloud and (eventually) Kubernetes
You'll also occasionally educate teams on best practices, but Kenneth happily covers most of that, so you don't need to be a born trainer.
Who we think you are
You don't need to tick every box below - but you should recognize yourself in the shape of it.
The mindset matters most. You see an unfamiliar problem, you grab it, you dig until you've got an answer. You're comfortable being the person who doesn't yet know what's broken but figures it out anyway. You enjoy working across many small things rather than going deep on one.
On the technical side, you bring most of these:
Solid grasp of API Management concepts - lifecycle, governance, monitoring, rate limiting, observability, SLAs. (Crucially: you think of APIs as contracts, not just services.)
Experience with at least one API Management platform - WSO2 (what JYSK runs), Azure API Management, Kong, Apigee, MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, IBM API Connect, or similar. We don't care which one - concepts transfer.
API security - OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS, threat protection
Comfortable in Linux environments — you can navigate, read logs, troubleshoot at OS level
Some coding background - you don't need to be a developer, but you should be able to read and write code when needed (any language; Java is a small plus)
Bonus points for: container orchestration / Kubernetes, cloud platforms, integration patterns, platform engineering background
This role would fit well if you're coming from an SRE, integration consultant, platform engineer, or DevOps background or maybe something else we haven’t thought of where APIs were a significant part of what you handled - likely at a larger company with a real integration setup (the kind of place where API management is a discipline, not a side task).
What we offer
A central role in shaping our API platform and integration landscape - your work is visible and matters
A collaborative, low-ego culture with short decision paths and supportive feedback
Close work with skilled colleagues across the IT organization
An international, expanding company that genuinely invests in people's growth
Solid compensation, pension, and the practical perks of a healthy Danish workplace
The practical stuff
Team: Integration (part of IT)
Level: Consultant - not a senior architect role, not an entry-level one either. Learn more about the department here.
